Seussical the Musical!

Take the 15 most popular Dr. Seuss books, put them all together in a creative way with some extremely catchy music, and all in rhyme, and you've got Seussical the Musical.  It was my family's last show here at the Aviano Community Theater and it sure was a great way to go out!  We had a packed house every night as word got around about how great it was.  Our Cat was played by Josh Blackburn, a young Airman First Class, who is a broadcast journalist for the Armed Forces Network.  He was outstandingly talented, creative and funny!  Here are pics that highlight the show.  Even though most of you won't know the plotline, hopefully you can enjoy the colorful sets and see just how much fun it was!  I played Mrs. Mayor of Whoville, Sara was the stinkerish Thing 2, Andrew ran the spotlight, and Bryan was our number one fan, with his butt in the seat and camera in hand for every show!  And YES, my hair is big and my makeup is crazy, but that's what our stylist created for me!  It was a hoot to wear!

Jojo and the Cat in the Hat open with a giant hat of felt that I made for the show

Opening number:  "Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!"
Even though the character Jojo is a boy, he was fabulously played by our friend, Isabella Pappas.

SEUSS!!!

Horton the Elephant looks through his magnifying glass at the miniature Whos on his clover

Number:  "We're Whos Here"
Mr. and Mrs. Mayor of Whoville appear in the magnifying glass to introduce themselves.

My hubby Who was played by AF Chaplain, Capt. Marty Barnes, who just won an award for Chaplain of the Year!

We Whos are singing about the truffula trees being cut down in Whoville.

The Grinch, played by my friend Brigette Robertson.

Number: "How to Raise a Child"
Jojo is our son who has a wild imagination and "thinks" too much!

Mayzie LaBird, played by teenage friend, Annalisa Hardin, who leaves Horton to sit on her egg while she flies off  to the beach.

The Bird Girls, who narrate the story in song.

Number: "How Lucky You Are"
Sara gets to dance with the Cat!

Horton is sold to the circus -- excellently played by SSgt. Kyle Strickland.
I found that hat for him to wear!  Perfect!

The Cat torments Horton with rain (water gun), fall leaves and snow as he spends a year sitting on Mayzie's egg.
Josh had fun every time doing this to poor Kyle!

Number: "Anything's Possible"
The Things help Jojo's imagination while he's in the tub.

Thing 2 holds the "Pill-berry bush" for Gertrude McFuzz so she can grow a bigger tail to impress Horton.
Gertrude was played by my friend and neighbor, Tracy Brockhaus.

The bad Eagle, Vlad Vladikoff, steals the clover and tries to kill the Who's.
This small, but fun part was played by AF pilot, Major Matt Brockhaus.
He got to wear his flight suit as his costume!

Our little Who family is reunited after we thought Jojo had been killed in the Butter Battles.

Number: "The People vs. Horton the Elephant"
Horton is on trial for "talkin' to a speck" and "sittin' on an egg."
Judge Yertle the Turtle was played by my good friend, Robin Ridgway.
She is using the gavel from my husband's office's courtroom!

The Things bring in the egg that Horton has been sitting on all year to reveal......?

An Elephant Bird!!!  When the egg opens, the surprise from the audience was audible every show!
So sweetly played by 6-year-old Elizabeth Brockhaus.

Chappy and I take our bow!

Sara joins me on the big group bow

Me and my girlfriends, Robin, April, and Ute

Me and my girl!  It was so much fun doing this with her!  I was so proud of how well she handled her role!
